Spc. Matthew T. Bolar, 24, was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when a bomb exploded near his vehicle.
Bolar, a native of Montgomery, Ala., served with the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division based at Fort Richardson.
