ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The state House overwhelmingly approved a resolution Friday that will accept any money Gov. Sarah Palin does not request from the federal economic stimulus package.
A similar resolution is awaiting action in the Senate.
The state's expected to be eligible for $930 million of federal stimulus money.
"This resolution is necessary to preserve our option to continue to evaluate those program funds that have not been accepted and make a determination of whether or not we wish to pursue them further on down the line during this legislative session," Rep. Mike Hawker, R-Anchorage said.
Gov. Palin has said she would not accept all the money because it would put a heavy burden on the state to fund certain programs after two years.
Despite only three representatives voting against the resolution, it sparked a lot of debate on the house floor.
