ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Firefighters spent Friday morning battling the first fire of the year.
Nine units were called to a duplex on Manor Avenue in Government Hill just after 5 a.m. Firefighters say the blaze appeared to start in the furnace area.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and it was contained to just one unit of the duplex.
Firefighters estimate damage at between $20,000 and $30,000.
