ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- It may be cold outside, but some soldiers had a very warm welcome to Alaska Wednesday morning.

About 100 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team returned around 5 a.m.

Friends and family waited at Elmendorf Air Force Base to greet them with hugs and smiles.

The soldiers had been serving in Afghanistan for the last 10 months.

"It feels surreal. Words can't explain. I'm just really happy to be home," said Sgt. Joshua Palugod.

"I just can't believe that he is home now. It's his second deployment so I can't believe that he is home finally," said his father, Ruben Palugod.

This is the second planeload of soldiers from the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team to return.

Two more planes are scheduled to return this month.

The rest of the team will return in February.
