ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Hundreds of Alaska-based soldiers returned home to their families Sunday night, ready for some luxuries that only home can provide.

About 250 paratroopers assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team were reunited with friends and family at the Buckner Physical Fitness Center after a deployment to eastern Afghanistan. This is the third group of Fort Richardson soldiers to return to Alaska.

For some families it means meeting new babies for the first time, or reconnecting with little ones who haven't seen a parent for a year.

"She's 3 and a half months old," said Kristy Bourn, holding her infant daughter Christy. "He didn't get to see her, so this is his first time seeing her -- he's only seen a couple pictures."

About 125 of the brigade's soldiers returned earlier this month.
