ANHCORAGE, Alaska -- Callan Chythlook-Sifsof of Girdwood was named to her first Olympic team Monday. She'll compete in snowboard cross with 2006 silver medalist Lindsey Jacobellis and fellow newcomer Faye Gulini.
Chythlook-Sifsof broke the news herself Monday morning on her Facebook page. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association issued a formal press release late Monday afternoon.
The Bristol Bay native was considered on the bubble to make the team, but a solid performance in the last race before selection apparently pushed her in the right direction.
Chythlook-Sifsof lost almost all of the 2009 World Cup season after injuring herself in the first race of the year, temporarily derailing a promising career that already had her on the "A" team in 2007 as an 18-year-old.
