ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Assembly member Sheila Selkregg said Monday that she will not run for re-election to her seat on the Assembly.
Selkregg said she plans to continue to be active in the community, but found that she didn't have enough time to devote to all of her commitments.
"I'm a working person. Having enough time in the day to do it all has been challenging for me," Selkregg said.
"I think Anchorage really needs to build a non-partisan coalition that advocates for our community," she said.
Selkregg also did not rule out running for the Assembly again in the future.
Selkregg said that her vote for her Assembly member would go to Paul Honeman.
"I think he's a good middle-of-the-road guy, and will do well. He's really decent, he's honest, and he knows the community well," Selkregg said.
