ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- An Anchorage company is getting a big grant to expand Internet access in Southwest Alaska.
United Utilities won the $88 million stimulus grant. The company will provide broadband Internet access to 65 communities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and Bristol Bay region.
Sen. Mark Begich says the expansion of Internet access through the stimulus funds will improve telemedicine, improve distance learning, create needed jobs and allow Alaska small businesses to grow and expand.
