FORT RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Another big wave of troops from Fort Richardson returned to Alaska Monday night from duty in Afghanistan.

They flew in to Elmendorf Air Force Base, then had a happy reunion with their families at Fort Richardson.

The 150 soldiers returned to Alaska after completing a year-long deployment in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The paratroopers are assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.

Their families say even though they've missed a lot during the past several months, they are proud of their loved ones' service to the nation.

"I think he's a hero. I mean, you know, and it takes a strong woman to be able to be to sit here and be on this side of it waiting to hear from their husband while they're overseas," said Lindsay Tucker, wife of one of the returning soldiers.

This group of returning soldiers will bring the total number who have come home to about 950.

2,500 more will be coming home soon.

Most of the rest of the brigade is expected to return from Afghanistan this month.
