ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Kasilof's Jay Hakkinen skied and shot his way to a 76th-place finish in the 20-kilometer biathlon Thursday afternoon. Eighty-eight competitors finished the race.

Hakkinen incurred penalties in each of four shooting rounds and had two misfires in three of them. He was third among Americans in the race, which did not include Anchorage's Jeremy Teela.

Teela Tweeted that he experienced sinus problems when he woke up Thursday morning and was a late scratch from the race. Wynn Roberts took his place.
