ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Palmer's Kerry Weiland and the rest of Team USA did as expected Thursday, completing the preliminary round of hockey competition undefeated.
The Americans defeated Finland 6-0. Weiland had three shots on goal and a minor penalty in 16:54 of ice time.
The Finns did make a bit of history, though. Anne Helin was awarded the first penalty shot in women's Olympic hockey history after she was hooked down by Natlie Darwitz late in the game.
Six different Americans scored. Darwitz had a three-point game with a goal and two helpers. Molly Engstrom was the only other player with a multi-point game with a goal and assist.
