ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Anchorage police issued a statement early Friday morning saying they were unable to locate any physical evidence supporting 27-year-old Jesse Kern's account of what happened Thursday afternoon.

Police responded to a hospital emergency room Thursday afternoon to find Kern being treated for a gunshot wound.

Kern told police he had been walking on a bike trail on the south side of Northern Lights Boulevard near East High School when he encountered a group of what he described as six Asian males. He said one of the individuals drew out a gun and shot him in the leg.

Police are requesting anyone with information about the shooting of Kern call APD immediately at 786-8900.
