ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- UAA held a chocolate extravaganza Wednesday.

Chef Vern Wolfram and a few students from the culinary arts program explained the basic properties of chocolate.

The interactive class let students and the public sample a variety of different chocolates.

Wolfram, an assistant professor at UAA, says it's important for his students to learn how to work with chocolate because it's a main part of the industry.

"There's so many things you can do with chocolate. We love to, you know, between cookies and candies and ice creams and cakes, everything, and just even eating chocolate by itself, just enjoying it by itself," he said.

Culinary students also made holiday chocolates like decorative Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies.
