KENAI, Alaska -- The Soldotna City Council has approved an ordinance that would allow it to issue up to $2 million in general obligation bonds to help pay for an expansion of the public library.
Librarian Terri Burdick says the library needs more space for the services it wants to provide, such as book clubs and cultural events. A conceptual design proposes to expand roughly 8,000 square feet of usable space into more than 18,000 square feet.
The ordinance does not mean the city council has issued any bonds, but it opens up that possibility.
The public must ultimately approve any bond issuance.
