ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Fourteen women were honored Monday at the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Awards.
They are the women you see everywhere; in the business world and volunteering above and beyond.
The honorees are recognized for their efforts to promote women in business and to inspire others into action.
The ATHENA society named former assembly member Heather Flynn as this year's award recipient for her stewardship throughout the years.
"Get an education, don't get married young, work hard, be flexible and share. Share your talent and your time with others, because what good are you if you don't," Flynn said.
Besides the ATHENA trophy, Flynn also got a couple of other surprises: A one year lease on a new red Audi from Morrison Auto Group. She also became a grandma for the second time early Monday morning.
