JUNEAU, Alaska -- Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan visited lawmakers in Juneau Thursday and says he is pleased the Legislature is showing support for Anchorage.

About $470 million of the proposed capital budget will go to fix up roads, construct buildings and continue work at the Port of Anchorage.

But Sullivan points to a few projects he'd still like to see pass.

One thing he wants is money for a new crime lab to be built in Anchorage. He would also like $5.5 million for a new data center, which would be a hub of bookkeeping and stats for the school district, municipality and state.

Sullivan says he's also keeping a close eye on a bill to create a natural gas storage facility near Cook Inlet.

"If we're not taking proactive action immediately to help us out in the short term with gas supply, gas deliverability, that we literally could face crisis situations in the near future as we almost did two of the last three winters," Sullivan said.

Money in the capital budget will also build two new Anchorage fire stations; one in Muldoon and one along Huffman.
