ANCHORAGE, Alaska — An informal meeting on the Wishbone Hill exploration permit renewal for Usibelli Coal Mine will be held in Sutton Wednesday.
The coal mining company is getting ready for work this summer north of Palmer at its Wishbone Hill lease, but residents in the Buffalo Mine Road area are not sure if they want a coal mine as a neighbor.
Usibelli filed an application to renew its coal exploration permit for the next two years with the Division of Mining, Land and Water in March.
Anyone can publicly voice their views at the meeting Wednesday night from 5 to 7:30 at Sutton Elementary School.
