Several Anchorage roads to be closed Memorial Day weekend

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- If you're sticking around Anchorage this Memorial Day weekend, there are a few road closures that could affect your travel.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, the intersection of 9th Avenue and L Street will be shut down for road and pedestrian improvements. The intersection should reopen on Tuesday at 6 a.m.

Also at 8 p.m. Friday, road crews will close 36th Avenue between Denali Street and the Old Seward Highway for road and utility work. The road will not reopen until Wednesday at 6 a.m.

Finally, drivers should also expect a full eastbound road closure on Providence Drive between Laurel Street and Piper Street for road and utility work. Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane. The road will reopen Wednesday at 6 a.m.
