ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Trout Unlimited Alaska is hosting a salmon cook-off.

The group, which is opposed to the development of the Pebble Mine, hopes to inform people on what they can do to help protect Bristol Bay.

The group says the Bristol Bay wild salmon fishery faces an unprecedented threat from Pebble -- a huge copper and gold deposit in southwest Alaska.

Trout Unlimited says its first Savor Bristol Bay event will be held on June 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Anchorage Farmers' Market.

Some of the best chefs in town are participating, including those from the Bear Tooth Theatrepub & Grill, Jack Sprat, Sack's Cafe and the Bradley House. Samples of freshly grilled salmon will be given away. The public will decide which recipe is best.
