ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- One person died Saturday in a helicopter crash near Dutch Harbor.
The Federal Aviation Administration says an R-44 helicopter took off from Dutch Harbor Saturday afternoon and crashed 50 miles southwest of town just after 5:30 p.m.
There was only one person on board the chopper, whose name officials have not yet released.
The helicopter is registered to Bering Pacific Ranches Ltd., a cattle ranching operation in the Aleutians.
The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
