ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaskan fishermen are helping out with the relief efforts in Louisiana for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The Alaska Fishing Industry Relief Mission is sending more than $10,000 to help the Gulf Coast fishing industry. The money will be used to fund an effort to create a citizens' advisory committee to help oversee the Gulf of Mexico oil industry.
If adopted by Congress, the committee would be similar to Alaska's regional citizens' advisory committees which were established after the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
