ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The Coast Guard says four Fairbanks men were rescued from Hinchinbrook Island after their boat took on water.

Petty Officer Charly Hengen says a Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued Kary, Tony and Kody Fuller and Justin Bezona from a beach in Deer Cove Monday night. The men were taken safely and unhurt to Valdez about 50 miles to the north.

Hengen says the men were in the 25-foot boat when a wave splashed over the stern, swamping the vessel. Water got into the fuel tank, disabling the boat.

The men got the boat to shore, but it tipped over and all their gear got wet. One of the men used his cell phone to call for help, and Alaska State Trooper then notified the Coast Guard.
