ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Recognizing people from all cultural backgrounds, the Southcentral Foundation along with Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium held "Honoring Our Heritage Day."

Traditional clothing, dance, and food were all part of the celebration.

The event also featured health care booths and a silent auction for native artwork.

The celebrations main theme was cultural education.

"I think if you know who you are and you're grounded and centered about who you are, it helps you all the way around. It's part of that emotional mental wellness and spiritual wellness," said Katherine Gottlieb, Southcentral Foundation president.

All proceeds from the event went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
