FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- A Fairbanks woman has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of her 6-year-old son by letting him miss 45 days last school year.
Police say the former husband of 40-year-old Marie Frueh found the boy crying and alone at her home after Denali Elementary School officials told him about the absences.
Court papers say 35 of the days were unexcused. The law allows such charges, but a veteran Fairbanks officer says he hasn't heard of it being used in the city.
