ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Superior Court Judge Peter Ashman sentenced a man convicted of robbing several Anchorage stores at gunpoint to 13 years in prison for the crime spree.

Prosecutors say Jelani McCall hit seven businesses, netting more than $1,000 in just a month. McCall told the judge his addiction to crack cocaine compelled him to commit the crimes.

Ashman said that scenario was "people's worst nightmare," and that the robberies were unacceptable under any circumstance.
