ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The trans-Alaska pipeline has been shut down for maintenance for the second time this summer.
The pipeline was shut down at 6 a.m. Saturday and will be closed until Sunday, for up to 36 hours.
Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. officials say the maintenance shutdowns are a significant part of Alyeska's pipeline integrity management program.
Major projects that will be accomplished this weekend on the pipeline include replacing a valve at Pump Station 9 and rerouting gas supply lines at Pump Stations 3 and 4.
