ANCHORAGE, Alaska — In varsity football, players may only get two chances throughout their high school career at South High to play each conference opponent. The Wolverines have a score to settle heading into Saturday's clash with Hillside rival Service.
Last year, the Cougars defeated the Wolverines for the first time in their six-game series history.
Now, both teams are coming off victories, and after a week of watching film, Matt Weidemann is looking forward to one matchup in particular.
“I want to see that Service runningback when I'm on defense. He's been putting moves on some other teams, but he won't against me,” the linebacker said.
“You start with their quarterback, J.J. Christy. He was there last year, he's picked up again. He's had some rough games, but still his quarterback play has been excellent,” coach John Lewis said.
