ANCHORAGE, Alaska — After three hours of deliberations, an Anchorage jury convicted a 26-year-old man Wednesday in the deaths of two people on New Year’s Day of 2007.
Ryan Sanders was found guilty of shooting and killing Travis Moore, 23, and Ashlee Richards, 17. An altercation in Sanders' apartment between Sanders and Moore turned physical. Court records show Sanders shot Moore, then picked up a second gun and followed Richards outside, shooting her while she fled.
Eyewitnesses testified that Sanders shot Richards in the back five times. In a taped statement to Anchorage police, Sanders told police that shooting Richards as she ran “might not have been my best move.”
Sanders was also found guilty of evidence tampering.
