ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Police Department reports a missing elderly man was found alive in Eagle River Thursday.

Police say they found 86-year-old Edgar Tamm submerged in water in a wooded area.

Tamm, who has mild dementia, was reported missing Wednesday when he didn't come back after taking a walk.

Tamm is originally from Estonia and is in Alaska visiting family.

The Alaska State Troopers searched the area by helicopter and found him just past noon Thursday.

Police say Tamm was taken to a medic and is now hospitalized.
