Soldier dies at Eagle River home

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Authorities are investigating the death of a Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson soldier at his Eagle River home early Sunday morning.

Army officials say the soldier, who was part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, was found unresponsive by his wife late Saturday night, who then called 911. Responders performed CPR on the soldier, but he was declared dead at 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of the soldier’s death is unknown, and his name has not yet been released.
