ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Thursday’s NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints took a bite out of our newscast -- including this week's Fishing Report. But that didn't stop Channel 2’s John Carpenter from heading out on the Upper Kenai River this week.
Rainbow trout and Dolly Vardens were the target on this trip and the river accomodated, producing several decent-sized fish. But also on the delivery list: a spectacular display of nature's beauty.
“It's a beautiful time of year and whether we catch fish or not, we have the mountains,” said Upper Kenai fishing guru Jon Givens. “The Kenai River is always an exceptionally beautiful river on its own, and it's a wonderful time of year to be here.”
