ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A year ago, Anchorage Christian School went undefeated en route to a second-straight 3A volleyball crown. But after massive losses to graduation, the Lions may require a grace period -- which it got Tuesday night in a three-game sweep at the hands of rival Grace Christian.
Grace’s Brandi Caylor had a big match, scoring nine kills including game-ending strikes in both the second and third games. She also had five aces in the matchup of Southcentral Cook Inlet Conference foes, which Grace took on scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-12.
But Grace wasn’t the only team to enjoy sweeps, with three of Tuesday night's four CIC matches ending in three games.
Dimond, Chugiak and South were all victorious, with only one match going the distance: Eagle River downed West 19-17 in the fifth game.
