ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan says he wants to test the city's energy conservation once again, in a repeat of last October’s Energy Watch Conservation Test.
During the test, residents were asked to turn down thermostats and put off doing laundry or dishes for two hours. The city says it saved between 2 to 4 percent of energy usage during that test.
The city announced Wednesday that this year's energy test will take place on Oct. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The test is part of Southcentral Alaska's Energy Watch program, set in place in case of problems delivering natural gas this winter.
