Bear Tooth Theatre upgrades to show 3-D films

September 22, 2010|by Channel 2 News staff

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Bear Tooth Theatre has a new look and a new sound, after recent upgrades replaced its 1970s-vintage projection equipment with the most up-to-date technology possible.

The theater has gone digital and features a new silver screen, surround sound and a projector with 3-D capability. The makeover process was a slow one, to try not to disturb the theater’s business hours.

The Bear Tooth is hoping the changes mean a better theater experience for moviegoers.

“We figured it was a good time to replace all of that with the most up-to-date technology we can provide to our customers, and provide the Bear Tooth experience,” said manager Adam Hollon.

The new experience comes with a new price tag: a general-admission ticket is up 50 cents to $3.50, while 3-D movie tickets cost $5.
