East ends season with a bang against Eagle River

September 25, 2010|by Charlie Sokaitis

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The East High T-Birds and the Eagle River Wolves, both without Cook Inlet Conference playoff opportunities this year, faced off Friday for one reason: pride.

In the first quarter, the T-Birds’ Brody de Loria enjoyed a 43-yard romp to the endzone, edging East ahead 7-0. The trend continued through the half, as East blew Eagle River off the line and Micah Gooman made it in on a 7-yard rush, opening East’s lead to 14-0 at halftime.

Eagle River tried to make a game of it in the third quarter, but East’s Omar Clinton picked off a pass as the T-Birds saved their best for last, shutting out Eagle River with a season-high 40 points. East finishes the season 2-6.
