Seawolves setback erases volleyball season's gains

October 01, 2010|by Kevin Wells

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The University of Alaska Anchorage’s volleyball team’s upset defeat of Western Washington University put the Seawolves back into the race for the GNAC title -- an opportunity that was apparently crushed Thursday.

A three-game loss at the hands of 15th-ranked Seattle Pacific, 25-23, 25-23, 25-14, drove the Seawolves back to .500 in conference.

Robyn Burton enjoyed a sensational match with 11 kills and an attack percentage of .588, but UAA had a tough time finishing out games, dropping five straight points near the end of the second game.

The Falcons closed out the match by capturing 10 of the last 14 points.
