iPhone to go to Verizon

October 07, 2010|by Channel 2 News staff

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — It looks like Apple is trying out new networks.

Published reports say Apple plans to make a version of the iPhone -- similar to the iPhone 4 -- that will be compatible with Verizon Wireless.

Verizon plans to sell the iPhone early next year. Right now the iPhone is only available domestically from AT&T.

Meanwhile, Verizon is ramping up plans to upgrade its network. The company says it will offer 4G high-speed data coverage to one-third of the U.S. by the end of this year.
