ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Small-schools defending champion Kenai was looking for a return trip to the finals Saturday, as only Homer stood in the way.
The Kardinals were already ahead 6-0 when quarterback Colton Hayes hit an open receivers, doubling Kenai’s lead to 12-0.
Touchdowns by Daniel Carlson and others contributed to a Kenai onslaught that won the day 47-12, giving Kenai a crack at Soldotna for the small-schools title.
“We played solid for 48 minutes and we never let up,” Hayes said.
