Anchorage ski swaps

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A crowded gymnasium full of ski equipment: This time of year, it’s an Alaskan tradition. The next few weekends are packed with some of the area’s best known ski swaps. Get there early for the best deals.

Eagle River  Nordic Ski Club Ski Swap

Date: Saturday, October 23

Event location: Gruening Middle School, 9601 Lee St. in Eagle River

Time: 9 a.m. - noon

Description: Get good deals on Nordic, Alpine, bikes, clothing, boots, poles, In-line skates, and more. Sponsored by the Eagle River Nordic Ski Club Ski Swap.

Girdwood Community All-Sports Swap

Date: Saturday, October 23

Event location:  Alyeska Daylodge in 1000 Arlberg Ave. in Girdwood

Time: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Description: Buy or sell your used outdoor and winter gear

West High Ski Swap

Date: Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31

Event location: West Anchorage High School, 1700 Hillcrest Drive in Anchorage

Time: Equipment check-in from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 30, sales from noon to 5 p.m. that day. On October 31, equipment check-in from 9 a.m. to noon with sales from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Description: Nordic, Apline, telemark, backcountry, snowboard, freestyle and winter clothing. New and used, vendors and resorts. Winter sports experts and program signups on the spot.  The event will also double as a food collection site for the Food Bank of Alaska. Participants are  encourage to bring canned vegetables, fruit and soups, boxed stuffing mix and other non-perishable items in support of the Food Bank of Alaska’s ‘Thanksgiving Blessing Project’, a community-wide food distribution scheduled for the month of November.

Nordic Ski Association and Ski Swap

Date: Saturday, November 6

Event location: Kincaid Chalet, at 9401 Raspberry Road in Anchorage

Time: Ski swap and live music begins at 2 p.m., potluck at 6 p.m., NSAA annual member meeting and officer election at 6:30 p.m.  

Description: The Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage grooms and maintains over 130-kilometers of world class trails in Anchorage, and supports Nordic ski jumping and biathlon events as well.
