ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A collision in Palmer Saturday between a pickup truck and a snowmachine left an 8-year-old boy injured after he was pinned under the truck.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Soapstone Road and Smith Street in Palmer. The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman reports that the boy was on a snowmachine and came out of a driveway onto the road in front of the driver of the pickup truck.

Witnesses say the tire of the truck was on the child's chest and stopped his breathing and his heart.

The boy was rescued from underneath the truck and was taken to the hospital. Officials say his prognosis is good.
