ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend, Turnagain Pass is open to snowmachiners.
The Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center says there is now enough snow to prevent resource damage. It warns the risk for an avalanche is moderate, and could get worse with changing weather patterns.
Turnagain Pass and Johnson Pass North Trailhead are open for snowmachine use, but Center and Divide Creek drainages remain closed for snowmachining.
All other areas of the Chugach National Forest also remain closed until Dec. 1, or until enough snow has fallen.
