ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Dimond Lynx and the East Thunderbirds took the ice at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena Wednesday night, going face-mask-to-face-mask for a hockey matchup.
The Lynx had the puck in the first period and scored, giving them a 1-0 lead they would keep into the third period.
The T-Birds used a 5-on-3 advantage to look for an equalizer, which was soon scored by Christian Luiten, who was mobbed by ecstatic teammates.
East remained on the power play, but less than a minute later shorthanded Dimond’s Tyler Thompson provided the winning goal in Dimond’s 2-1 triumph over East.
