ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility will be upping its rates in the coming years.
Under the forecasted budgets for AWWU, the group is planning for a 15 percent rate increase for next year for sewer bills. For water bills, the rate increase is scheduled to be 8 percent.
And that's just the beginning. Over the next six years, AWWU is forecasting rate increases between 8 and 9.5 percent each year for both water and sewer bills.
That means a single family that pays about $70 a month for water and sewer service now, will pay more than $115 a month by 2016.
