Aces sweat out shootout victory

December 09, 2010|by Kevin Wells

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Brian Swanson scored in regulation and delivered the decisive blow in a shootout, as the Alaska Aces secured a much-needed win over the Victoria Salmon Kings, 3-2.

Alaska had dropped four of its last five games.

Swanson's tally with less than five minutes left in the third period gave the Aces the lead, but Victoria's Milan Gajic scored with 16 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session.

Chad Anderson buried the Aces other goal off a nice feed from Ethan Cox.

The Aces are now 12-9-1 overall, while the Salmon Kings drop to 10-13-2.
