Bartlett bounces South

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Bartlett boys basketball team rallied from 16 points behind to trip South, 63-54 to offer a wild beginning to the 31st Service Cougar Tip-Off Classic. 

The Golden Bears were outscored to begin the game, 12-0, before marching back with a 29-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.  Damon Sherman-Newsome scored 20 points to lead Bartlett.  

The Golden Bears will face defending state 2A champion Point Hope in the semifinals.  The Harpooners sank 10 three-pointers in a 75-58 rout of Lumen Christi. 

Adam Sage scored 28 for Point Hope, while Zach Lane chipped in with 24.

On the other side of the bracket,  host Service drubbed Thunder Mountain, 73-36.  Taylor Willing scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter for Service.  The Cougars will face Seward in the semis, a 56-47 winner over East.

The Point Hope-Bartlett semifinal is set for 5:30 on friday, followed by Service vs. Seward at 7:15.
