Anchorage woman wraps gifts for charity

December 24, 2010|By Jackie Bartz | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Some wrapping advice: never show the tape and always use a bow. One Anchorage woman says wrapping holiday gifts is an art form.

Miss Pillow has been wrapping gifts at REI for years.

She says there is creative ways to conserve wrapping materials.

She uses recycled cardboard for name tags and measures to make sure she uses the least amount of wrapping paper possible.

Miss Pillow doesn't see a dime for her wrapping. She donates the money to the Red Cross.

“If you're sitting at home, bored, depressed, whatever, the best thing to do is go do something for somebody else,” said Miss Pillow.

This year she's raised over $500 for the Red Cross.

She also had guest gift wrappers who helped her out and then donated that days money to a charity of their choice.
