The signature game in the career of Haines standout Kyle Fossman lifted the Glacier Bears to their second state 3A state championship in three seasons. Fossman totalled 23 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and a game saving steal in the final seconds to preserve an exciting 46-45 win over Nome.
The game was a true classic, featuring multiple lead changes. It all came down to one possession. With Nome trailing by one point, the Nanooks fed Mason Evans, who attempted to drive the lane for a game-winning bucket. However, Fossman poked the ball loose to prevent a shot from going up.
