On February 11th, the UAA Women's Basketball team, then ranked 17th in Division II, hosted #20 Western Washington. The visiting Vikings came into the game unbeaten in conference play.
The Seawolves never led until six minutes left in regulation when Leah Stepovich drilled a three pointer to put UAA on top 58 to 57.
Western Washington struck back, taking a 65-62 lead on a Willow Cabe jumper at the three minute mark, setting the stage for a pulsating finish.
With the game tied at 69 with six seconds to play, UAA in-bounded to Nicci Miller, who hit a runner off the backboard and in with 3.3 seconds left.
The Vikings, without a timeout, quickly brought the ball up the floor and Megan Pinske's last second heave from just inside half court bounced off the rim and out.
The game ended in similar fashion to the NCAA final between Butler and Duke -- UAA 71, WWU 69.
