ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Two people are being indicted in connection with the jailhouse death of John Carlin.

The state released the grand jury indictment Thursday afternoon charging William Wassille with second degree murder and Tyler Heavyrunner with criminally negligent homicide.

Wassille and Heavyrunner are also being charged with burglary and tampering with evidence.

Carlin was accused along with Mechele Linehan of the 1996 murder of Kent Leppink. They were both sentenced to 99 years, but Linehan was released on appeal.

Carlin was beaten to death in the Spring Creek Correctional Center in 2008.
