Avalanche center holds drawings to spur reports

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center is starting a new incentive program for people to report their observations regarding snow and avalanche conditions.

Avalanche forecasters say they hope more people will provide them with information, to help them produce more accurate avalanche advisories.

Every snow condition observation that is submitted online will be entered into a monthly drawing for a $100 gift card. In April, all submissions will be entered in a grand-prize drawing for a new avalanche beacon.
